C-Rayz Walz: I lost in the competition. But the politics that were behind it and other competitions that were going on in the city, I was banned for that reason. I don’t know, it’s like a conspiracy. Me and my man Breeze got banned, and Breeze won his Blaze Battles.
MVRemix: A lot of people consider you the best battle MC, what do you think of people that say this?
C-Rayz Walz: I think they’re smart.
MVRemix: So you’re the best?
C-Rayz Walz: I’m the best at what I do.

MVRemix: On the track Essence off of Ravipops, you say, “Coming straight off the bean curd rap.” [This is my mistake, he actually doesn’t say that line, as I soon find out.] What does this it mean to come straight off the bean curd rap?
C-Rayz Walz: It’s the opposite, I said rack.
MVRemix: Oh, it makes a lot more sense now. [Honestly, I don’t know what it means].
C-Rayz Walz: So you know what it means now?
MVRemix: Yeah. [I didn’t know what it meant, but I hoped there wasn’t a follow up. Instead, he calls my bluff.]
C-Rayz Walz: What does it mean?
MVRemix: [Silence for at least 20 seconds.] Hmm, you were saying something earlier about how soy is the opposite of something, actually I don’t know what it means, what does it mean?
C-Rayz Walz: Well what I’m saying is, it’s straight off the bean curd rack. Like in the hood or slang, it’ll be like, “Yo, your man is off the meat rack, b.” This is the opposite of off the meat rack, I’m off the bean curd rack. I’m vegetarian. But I’m bringing just as hard as someone that’s street, I’m positive, but I’ll slap the shit out of a motherfucker, so this is straight off the bean curd rack.
MVRemix: How long have you been a vegetarian?
C-Rayz Walz: All my life, before it was fad.
MVRemix: What were the reasons for you to be raised as a vegetarian?
C-Rayz Walz: My mother basically imparted her ways upon me. As I got older, I tried the Whopper here and there, chicken and things, but the meat didn’t make me feel good to my stomach. After a while it made sense to me that you shouldn’t eat things that are alive with eyes and nose, but after I further studied, plants are alive and they give you life. They’re a lot more alive more so than me. So you’re eating directly from life. I just think it’s a better concept of being at one with life and sharing with it. Herbs and vegetables grow in more abundance and the amount of herbs and vegetables you have to fuel meat production for a mass of people is not necessary.
MVRemix: What is the meaning behind the title, “Year of the Beast”? What is the “beast” that you are referring to?
C-Rayz Walz: I mean this year I wanted to be negative again, and start robbing rich white people, because black people don’t got money in the hood. It’s not about race or nothing, it’s just that white people are richer in midtown than black people in all five boroughs or Asians in the upper West Side. So I’m slowly taming that beast inside me, ‘cause it’s been a long time since I’ve done that. We’re in the age of not even Aquarius, we’re in the age of demons. But it’s always been what it is, ain’t nothin’ ever new, it’s the year of the beast all the time, cause we’re always fighting that battle within ourselves, so I think that if everyone fights the beast within themselves, we can emerge victorious with some more love and straight up caring in the world, on some corny shit, but basically that’s the only thing that really makes sense to me. And then lyrically I’m a beast. I am the culmination of Chinese astrology, I’m the year of the beast, I’m the whole calendar, I’m the whole zodiac sign. Read my expression, can you see a look on my face? [I’m not if he wants me to read his expression, but I can’t see a look on his face.] If you could, you could read hieroglyphics. ‘Cause when someone tells you what that says, I’ll say, ok, but until then this is just gonna be a whole bunch of people asking what that is. So everybody’s gotta go in themselves and get that beast out. This is 2005, this is the year of the 7’s. God coming, righteousness coming, wind coming, balance coming, light coming, the dark stayin, the dark can’t go no where, it’s staying.
MVRemix: How did you get involved with MTV Made?
C-Rayz Walz: Well I got connections with the most high. So, I visualize things happening and they happen. I visualize myself being on MTV or BET or something big this year.
