These are the transcripts of a brief interview between Hugo Lunny and Mixmaster Mike, conducted July 22nd, 1998. Mixmaster Mike has recently joined the Beastie Boys Camp as their DJ and he is best known as a member of the infamous DJ'ing group the Invisibl Skratch Piklz.



MVRemix: When did you first get into hip hop?

Mike: 1985

MVRemix: What did you like about the music?

Mike: It made me wanna breakdance.

MVRemix: When did you get your first turntables?

Mike: 1986

MVRemix: Who or what inspired you to become a DJ?

Mike: Grandmixer DXT

MVRemix: How long have you been deejaying?

Mike: 13 years.

MVRemix: What was your first wax appearance?

Mike: "Rappers Delight."

MVRemix: How did you join the Invisibl Skratch Piklz?

Mike: I created the Skratch Piklz along with Q-Bert.

MVRemix: How did you get signed to Asphodel?

Mike: They enjoyed our musical offerings.

MVRemix: What's your favourite venue to play at?

Mike: In the middle of various cornfields.

MVRemix: How did you meet the Beastie Boys?

Mike: I met Adam Yauch at Rocksteady Anniversary in 1995, NYC.

MVRemix: How did you become their DJ?

Mike: When they opened the door to their spacecraft I walked in.

MVRemix: Can you please give me your definition of the phrase "Keepin' It Real"?

Mike: Keepin' it real is to create what's never been created.

MVRemix: What do you think of censorship?

Mike: The ship makes no cense.

MVRemix: How long did the album take to make?

Mike: It took 6 months

MVRemix: What's your favourite track on the album?

Mike: "Serprize Package"

MVRemix: What's the hardest part of deejaying?

Mike: Getting sleep.

MVRemix: Will we see any more singles from the LP?

Mike: Perhaps? "All Pro"?

MVRemix: Have you ever been on the Internet?

Mike: Occasionally

MVRemix: Have you got any messages for your fans?

Mike: I love 'em all.
