I've had this EP for about a week, and my opinion has really remained the same. Anomos is an independent emcee from Staten Island who was recently signed to NPO Records, and, as far as I know, this is his first release.
Though the score shows that this EP isn't outstanding, I have to tell you that Anomos is really skilled when it comes to his lyrics. They're very well written, however, lyrics are not the only factor that goes into making a good track.
Still, with that in mind, you'd think I'm criticizing the EP's production. You're wrong, the majority of the production is on point and well done.
Where this EP fails to grab my attention is when the lyrics and beats are mixed. Anomos' voice isn't very powerful, and it blends into the beats a little too much. Another point in which the EP's quality suffers is the addition of the female singer on 'Real Eyez.' The mixture of her singing, Anomos' lyrics and the beats form a sort of tacky feel. If you separated all three, you'd find all are of a high standard, but, they don't work when mixed.
Overall, Anomos comes with an okay EP, but I think he needs to re-think about which beats he rhymes over so that his voice and lyrics become more prominent.
