House deejay Kenny Dope has crafted one of the best hip-hop compilation/Mix packages in the last 12 months. Forget Clue?, Capri and Flex, this guy knows where it is. You don't need exclusives to create a collection like this, just a good taste in music. This 3 CD set (yes! 3 CDs at a nice price) starts off with CD1, the mixed element of this package, Kenny mixes 19 tracks together pretty damn well, uses familiar beats and even using the
original samples to enhance the tracks, case in point 'Bring the pain'. The last 2 cds contain most of the tracks mixed in the first CD, what a con you think? nah that first CD is a bonus the tracks are not cut off half way thru and they are pieced together nicely and we even get Kenny's own mix of G raps 'Ill street blues'. The last 2 Cds contain 12 tracks on each of the mixed tracks and a few more gems thrown in completely unmixed for us to enjoy. It's a pleasure to find 'DWYCK' alongside Reflection Eternals 'Fortified live' or
the Rawcotiks 'Hardcore hip hop' on the same CD as Black Sheep's 'Flavor of the month' this is PURE hip hop, not some record company driven compilation with radio friendly tracks for the pop heads. One of the gems I unearthed here was Breez Evahflowin' with 'Forsaken' that track appeared on the 5 deadly venomz mixtape last year and it still sounds fresh to this day. Some great classics appear on here from ED OG, Special ED and De la with Tribe. But i got one major problem with this album, nah just kidding, I was gonna moan about it being a bit short or throwing in more tracks but its quality
that counts and it definitely scores here, a must for any true hip hop head.
