: These days it seems everyone and their mother is releasing material. The majority of that seems to be pretty mediocre, which is not a good thing. You get good quality music that sells well in the 'mainstream' section of hip hop and good quality music that doesn't sell well in the 'mainstream.' 'Independents' are the same, but, though I prefer 'Independents' to 'mainstream,' you can get some shit material.

You're practically guaranteed not to get shitty material from the Mystik Journeymen/Living Legends click. I can honestly say that the material I've heard from them is excellent, and that's why when I saw this I had to pick it up.

The EP contains about 10 tracks, about half of those are songs, there's an instrumental of the title cut 'Mercury Rising' and a few interludes. The best part (as you'd expect) of the EP, is the music. The cuts are all pretty damn hot, plus, when you've listened to the instrumental of 'Mercury Rising' and when you've listened to the proper version, you will notice how talented they worked over the beats.

My favourite cut on the EP is definitely 'The Odyssey.' It's amazing. The background music starts off sounding as if you were in a storm, then it mixes in with the proper beats and some sort of depressing singing kick in to form the music. After that you hear the raps, which are dope, of course. Definitely peep this EP!
