All for the Prada, Louis, Gucci, Chanel! De La Soul are hot on the trails of a couple of females giving up the “goods” for the designer label goods and credit cards!
“Ay papi, I gotta have these,” a female voice exclaims just prior to the cowbells of the head-nodding Madlib production. In preparation for their eighth studio album, De La Soul presents the lead 12” single, “Shopping Bags (She Got From You),” an anthem dedicated to the females willing to mess with financial-stable dudes with big bank accounts and deep pockets.
De La’s “The Grind Date,” set to drop September 28 on the Urban Sanctuary imprint, features this brand-name label name-dropping fest as a promising lead single. If this is an example of what it is to come from the hard-working De La bunch, get the Visa ready, charge this one to the game, and drop it into a shopping bag of your own.
